The Christian Rightists are among the least knowledgeable about their Bible and religion. The white male evangelical Protestants are the only group to vote Republican, and are the fiercest preachers and promoters of Christianity (as least their version). So what does the Bible itself, not some ignorant, lying, hypocritical preacher, specifically state about being a Christian and following God?
1) Never work on the Sabbbath day (Sunday) or you will be stoned to death.
"Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the Lord: whoseoever doeth work therein shall be put to death. Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day." (Exodus 35:2)"
That's right, if you are a store clerk, restaurant worker, police officer, or any of the millions of workers who must work on Sunday, you must face the wrath of God and be stoned to death. The church janitor isn't exempt, either.
2) If you are handicapped, you may not enter a church.
"And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. . . . a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous. Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbacked, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire . . . he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the Lord do sanctify them." (Leviticus 21:16-23)
Republicans love to discriminate, even against the handicapped.
3) Sell everything you have and give all the money to the poor.
"And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? . . . Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me." (Matthew 19:16-21. See also Luke 12:33)
Yet it is amazing how many fancy cars, lavish clothes, and expensive jewelry are commonplace at churches.
4) You must castrate yourself as personal sacrifice for "the kingdom of heaven", as Jesus talking about when he told his disciples, "He that is able to receive it, let him receive it"
"But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs from the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it." (Matthew 19:11-12) The Scholar's Version has: "There are castrated men who castrated themselves because of Heaven's imperial rule. If you are able to accept this (advice), do so."
That's what the Bible says, not me.
5) If you have committed a sexual sin, even merely lusting for someone outside of marriage without physically committing the act, you must castrate yourself (if you are a male).
"If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell" (Matthew 5:29-30).
Even male pastors are not exempt from this law. If a pastor commits a sexual sin with a child or woman outside of marriage, his penis was the culprit. The Bible specifically states the body part causing the sin must be cut off. Even if the pastor watches internet pornography for sexual gratification, he has committed the sin and must be castrated.
So how many Christians actually follow the Bible? To my knowledge, none. Take the Bible quiz from Freedom from Religion Foundation
