U.S. Census 2010: Red states gain House seats, but not necessarily for the benefit of GOP
But that is not necessarily for the benefit of GOP. The overwhelming growth in these red states is due to the Hispanic population, which strongly votes Democrat and are trending to vote even more Democratic. So while the red states are gaining, it's because the blue population is contributing to the growth, thus turning these states purple and eventually blue.
Did you think the Republicans have any future? They only won the white voters, who are stagnant at best and often declining in population, thanks to the GOP's suicidal policies to decimate themselves. The Democrats have won the votes of every non-white race, all who are growing in population and showing no signs of ever going to the dark side (the GOP).
In Texas, Republicans' gain in census also fraught with risk
