Robert Cahaly and Southern Republican Leadership Conference in massive debts

When you do more research on the troubles and crimes these neocons get stuck in, it really gets very interesting and amusing to see how much more troubled and depraved they truly are.  In my "Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips stuck with $748,300 Las Vegas hotel bill" posting, there was another neocon fascist named Robert Cahaly of South Carolina who was sued by the Charleston Place Hotel for unpaid hotel bills of $227,800 last February from a very poorly attended Southern Republican Leadership Conference event.

Who is Robert Cahaly?  Robert is a hardcore right-winger from South Carolina who has been in trouble with the police.  In 2010 he had an arrest warrant for his criminal activities in the 2010 elections.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has arrested an Anderson County man accused of making illegal political calls involving six House District races in South Carolina.

Robert Charles Cahaly, 41, of 112 Shannon Drive, Pendleton is charged with six counts of Automatically Dialed Announcing Device violations.

Cahaly turned himself in to SLED agents Wednesday morning.

According to SLED arrest warrants, Cahaly is accused of paying for and disseminating automated telephone calls (“Robo-Calls”) from an Automatically Dialed Answering Device (ADAD) on September 23, 2010.

So now we know Robert Cahaly is a crook and felon.  But what will really break his darling right-wing fascist group, the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC), is the massive six-figure debt placed on him and the SRLC from the very poorly attended SRLC event from January 19-22, 2012.  This article and their website www.srlccharleston2012.com has more details.

TPM: Did Major GOP Group Skip Out On $200K Hotel Bill?

We already know Charleston Place Hotel sued Cahaly and SRLC for $227,800, but that is only the beginning of this disastrous financial nightmare.  SRLC rented out the entire TD Arena in Charleston for two whole days to host the GOP Presidential candidates like Newt Gingrich (who cancelled), Rick Santorum, and Ron Paul.  TD Arena has an audience capacity of 6,000 people, but during the conference, only a maximum of 25 people actually attended.

The dollar figure for renting TD Arena is not posted on the internet, but the bill is sure to be in the six figure range, which will be added to the $227,800 debts from Charleston Place Hotel.

Then there are costs for hiring staff for the conference, from camera persons, photographers, designers, props and lighting, recording, video and audio technicians, security, and more.  Plus more junk costs like making brochures, badges, newsletters, DVDs, postcards, campaign buttons and stickers, and other worthless junk.  More money, at least tens of thousands of dollars, down the drain and added to their debt.

Did you know that the losers of SRLC reserved not one, but three hotels, for their failed conference?  Charleston Place Hotel was their primary hotel, but there were two other hotels, The Renaissance and Courtyard Marriott, that were part of their reserved SRLC housing block.  As their website shows, "Only sponsors, registered attendees, credentialed media, participating candidates, or credentialed staff of participating candidates are allowed to stay in the SRLC housing block."  More debts added.

What a true disaster for them, but that's the price you pay when you live a life of lies and stupidity like these right-wingers.

  • Didn't we learn from GW Bush's and the Republicans' disastrously failed regime that they can't manage finances? Some people still haven't learned.
